At Forge, we train our team and sport athletes to learn proper functional movements which will directly translate into their sport performance and overall development as an athlete. We do not buy into the specialty exercises and gimmicks that are plastered all over the internet. The majority are flashy, but not functional, especially for youth athletes who cannot complete basic movement patterns.
Everything starts with body weight exercises – load and resistance will be applied to challenge their posture and position, but never enough that it would change their posture and position. Load and resistance is important as the forces created on the respective playing field/court etc. are far more than what we can or will recreate in the gym, so it is important that we train to be able to accommodate the unforeseen forces to come. Specifically speaking, they will develop strength everywhere – Legs, Core, Arms, Shoulders, FEET etc. They will also be exposed to develop better power, agility, speed, coordination, and teamwork.
