When I was a child, my sister and I spent our summers at home while our mom worked. To keep us entertained and out of trouble, she cleverly gave us daily “to-do lists” full of chores. But she added something unique: random fitness challenges like 100 sit-ups, 50 pushups, and 100 lunges. These mini exercise challenges helped us form good habits, and we always looked forward to them – definitely preferring pushups over laundry!
Fitness has always been a core part of who I am. I truly love it. Sports have been a constant presence in my life, with ice hockey always at the top of my list. I played AAA from ages 11-16 and then moved on to Junior ‘B’ in the PIJHL and Junior ‘A’ in the BCHL until I was 18.
Beyond my passion for the game, I loved the preparation itself. ‘Dryland Conditioning’ with squats, bench presses, sled pushes, tire flips, etc., made me feel powerful and alive. I was one of the few players who maintained an in-season strength program on my own, mainly because I loved being in the gym and knew it was crucial for my development. Many friends asked for my help to learn the movements properly and get stronger. Guiding them came naturally, and I was always excited to help.
Fast forward a few years: I was no longer playing hockey but still exercising and lifting weights. I felt a void that needed to be filled. Longing for community, camaraderie, and some competitive drive, I connected with a coach and gym owner and started training with them. Friends and fellow gym members approached me for help, whether it was correcting their squat form or giving tips for achieving their first bodyweight pull-up. My training methods evolved organically, and I took on more coaching responsibilities, growing from there.
I’ve always had the drive to help others be the best they can be. This means walking the talk and holding myself to the highest standards to be a good role model and leader. I believe in continually investing in myself to maintain the highest level of practical and applicable knowledge, so I can be the best coach for my clients.
My top priority is your development. I aim to help you achieve a perfect blend of performance, health, and longevity. Whether you’re in your 50s trying to improve your golf game or in your teens seeking peak performance in your sport, our goals are to enhance your health, longevity, and performance.
I really love coaching and take great care in my evening classes.
